EDITOR’S PICK: TRAVEL DESTINATION

Borobudur, Indonesia
Borobudur is the world’s largest Buddhist temple and a stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site in Central Java, Indonesia. Built in the 8th–9th century during the Sailendra Dynasty, this massive monument consists of nine stacked platforms forming a giant mandala-like pyramid. It features over 2,672 intricate relief panels and 504 Buddha statues, symbolizing the journey from the world of desires to enlightenment (nirvana). Hidden under volcanic ash for centuries, it was rediscovered in the 19th century and restored with UNESCO support.
Best Time:
Dry season (May–October) for clear skies and comfortable weather. Aim for sunrise (highly recommended) to beat crowds and heat.
Travel Tips :

Base yourself in Yogyakarta (about 1-hour drive). Book sunrise tickets in advance. Wear modest clothing, comfortable shoes, and bring sunscreen/hat. Combine with nearby Prambanan Temple. Respect the sacred site—no climbing on statues. Early morning visits are ideal for fewer people and better photos.
