Deepti Sharma: ICC Women’s World Cup Hero Serves as UP Police DSP, Felicitated

Deepti Sharma, 28, a key member of the Indian Women’s ODI World Cup-winning team, also serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Uttar Pradesh. She was honored recently at the State Police Headquarters in Gomtinagar Extension for her dual achievements in sports and public service.

Deepti Sharma became a national icon through her outstanding contribution to India’s historic victory in the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup. As a versatile all-rounder, she scored 215 runs and took 22 wickets during the tournament, earning the Player of the Tournament award. These numbers set a record unmatched by any male or female cricketer in a single World Cup. In the final against South Africa, Deepti’s match-winning five-wicket haul sealed India’s maiden World Cup title.

She also played a vital role in helping India secure the gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games.
