Monsoon Mayhem Continue, More Expected on 02 September 2025
Orange Alert, Work From Home and Online Classes Ordered issued in Gurgaon
for 02 September 2025
Heavy rain lashed Gurgaon on the afternoon of September 1, 2025, causing widespread waterlogging and leading to severe traffic jams during the evening peak hours. The downpour, which lasted for several hours, flooded key roads including Rajiv Chowk, Sohna Road, Golf Course Extension Road, and the Southern Peripheral Road, and also the residential areas and sector roads. Commuters reported long delays and gridlock, with many vehicles stuck in slow-moving traffic for hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an orange alert for Gurgaon, warning residents of continued heavy rains throughout the day and into the evening. The intense rainfall overwhelmed the city’s drainage system, resulting in water accumulation especially in low-lying and poorly maintained areas.
Traffic police personnel were deployed at critical junctions to manage the congestion and assist stranded vehicles. Despite these efforts, the waterlogging severely impacted traffic flow, frustrating commuters trying to return home from work.
Officials also highlighted that poor road conditions and potholes were worsened by the rain, exacerbating traffic snarls and raising concerns over commuter safety.
This heavy rain and resulting urban flooding highlight ongoing challenges faced by Gurgaon in managing monsoon-related disruptions amid rapid urban expansion and infrastructure demands. Residents are advised to exercise caution on waterlogged roads and anticipate longer travel times in such weather conditions.
The IMD continues to monitor the weather closely, forecasting more rain for the region over the next 24 hours, which may prolong traffic issues and water-logging in the coming days.
