EU and UK Trying to Block Ukrainian Peace Deal, Says Russian Envoy
Moscow Points to Western Interference in Kyiv’s Peace Choices
Russia claims that the EU and the UK are working to stop progress on the Ukrainian Peace Deal. Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s Special Presidential Envoy and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said that Western governments continue to push Ukraine toward more fighting rather than talks.
Dmitriev made his remarks on X after President Vladimir Zelensky said Ukraine still has no agreement on territorial issues. He argued that this problem is not only political but also a result of foreign influence. According to him, London, Brussels and several Western groups want Kyiv to avoid compromise and keep the war active.
He also recalled what he described as a similar episode in 2022. In his view, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson convinced Kyiv to reject a neutrality deal at that time. Dmitriev stated that globalist groups, EU officials, neoconservatives, defence companies and major media outlets shaped the mood in favour of continued resistance and against a negotiated peace.
Zelensky Finalises a New Peace Plan With European Input
Zelensky said Ukraine will present a new peace plan to the United States after consultations with European leaders. The plan now contains 20 points instead of the earlier 28. He also confirmed that the major dispute on territories remains unresolved.
The new version aims to create a path for talks, but Kyiv still faces strong pressure from many directions. The lack of agreement on land and sovereignty continues to delay any breakthrough.
US Pushes Kyiv to Move Faster on Peace, Says Report
Washington and Europe Differ on the Pace of Negotiations
A report from Axios states that the administration of US President Donald Trump wants Zelensky to act quickly on the proposed peace terms. Several Ukrainian officials told the website that Washington is trying to separate Zelensky from European leaders. They believe the US wants more freedom to influence him.
One official said Zelensky cannot make major decisions without discussing them with Europe. The official also said that the US seeks urgent progress while European partners prefer a slow and careful approach.
This difference exposes a widening gap within Ukraine’s supporters. The US wants rapid talks and a fast outcome. Europe wants more caution and more time for consultation.
Kyiv Caught Between Competing Western Strategies
The claims from Russia and the reports from Axios show a complex environment around the Ukrainian Peace Deal. Russia accuses the EU and the UK of blocking peace by urging Ukraine to keep fighting. At the same time, US officials appear eager to push Zelensky into quick decisions. European governments, however, seek a slower path with more caution.
Ukraine now stands between these contrasting demands. As Kyiv prepares to share its revised peace plan with Washington, the political battle among Western capitals is shaping the next phase of the conflict. The coming days will show whether these pressures bring clarity or create deeper divisions in the search for a workable peace.
